Former Montgomery County Police Officer Sentenced for Illegal Actions

Greenbelt, Maryland - Chief U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow sentenced former Montgomery County Police officer Delores Culmer, age 38, of Silver Spring, Maryland to five months in home detention with electronic monitoring, followed by two years of supervised release, for obtaining unauthorized information from protected government computers for her personal financial gain or commercial advantage.

State Highway Administration Rehabs Two Frederick County Bridges on I-270

This information is provided by The Maryland State Highway Administration:


(June 13, 2011) –The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is rehabilitating two bridges on northbound and southbound I-270 over MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) and Bennett Creek in Frederick County.  Both bridges are structurally sound but are in need of preventive maintenance to extend their service life after decades of carrying more than 82,000 vehicles a day.  Weather permitting the $8.9 million project will be completed in fall 2012.

Montgomery County Offers Farmer's Market Coupons to Low-Income Seniors

On Thursday, July 7th at 10 a.m., a limited number of free coupon books will be given to low-income seniors  in Montgomery County. The coupons may be used at farmer's markets in Montgomery County until October 31, 2011.

Coupon books will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis at the following locations:

Check out Big Daddy this Sunday, June 12th, at MOVIES ON THE POTOMAC , National Harbor’s weekly outdoor movie series. Beginning at Sunset next to the marina they will be showing free outdoor movies on a big screen. Lawn chairs or blankets are recommended. No coolers with food or alcoholic beverages will be permitted.

Sundays are FAMILY Movies.  Fridays are DATE NIGHT Movies.

WHS Waives Cat Adoption Fees in June

 

This notice comes to us from the Washington Humane Society:

To celebrate Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month this June, the Washington Humane Society (WHS), in collaboration with the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the makers of Fresh Step litter, is participating in a fee-waived adoption program to help find loving homes for cats. During the month of June, WHS will waive adoption fees on all cats over the age of 2 at both of its shelter locations.
