Multilingual Communication Services (MCS), a subsidiary of Adulis Enterprises, has been providing multilingual communication services in the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan since 1999.

MCS initially began as a translation and interpretation agency serving the language needs of Limited English Proficiency (LEP) persons from East Africa. The once two-person staff has since grown to include four highly qualified linguists and professionals with hundreds of retained freelance translators, interpreters, and proofreaders providing language services in many languages globally such as Burmese, Spanish, Creole, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), French, Vietnamese, Amharic, Hindi, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese, Zulu (South African), Ethiopian Sign Language, and emerging languages like Farsi

In 2007, recognizing the growing needs in over-the-telephone interpreter service by private and public service providers to LEP communities, MCS undertook a major organizational commitment to provide over-the-telephone interpreter service using the most advanced technologies available.  To this end, MCS invested in state-of-the-art Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) PBX telephone systems.  We also broadened our interpreters’ database by reaching out to our networks in LEP communities around the region as well as through innovative recruiting methods like the use of social media like Facebook and Twitter.

Since then, we have expanded our over-the-telephone and in-person interpretation services to include over 95 languages provided by a growing list of over 1,500 interpreters.  We have also expanded our broader language services to include printing, copying, graphic design, transcription, voice-over narration, distribution, and marketing in over 170 languages.  This is testament not only to the dedication, hard work and quality of service MCS provides, but also recognition of excellence and trust placed on MCS by the LEP communities we work with and our clients.

MCS client list has grown along with our services and interpreters.  Our clients include private businesses like insurance companies, law firms, hospitals, clinics as well as government entities like department of health and courts.

MCS specializes in the legal, social, medical service delivery and business fields were specialized knowledge and skills are a prerequisite.  We recruit certified and/or credentialed interpreters and translators.

MCS is certified minority business in the state of Maryland.
