Hundreds Of Military Veterans To Be Saluted And Honored Nov. 12 At Riderwood

WHAT:

Hundreds of military veterans will be saluted and honored at a  Monday, November 12 Veterans Day (10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.) ceremony at Riderwood retirement community in Silver Spring, MD.

While the traditional holiday is November 11, the date when World War I ended, that date falls on a Sunday and would conflict with religious services.

Veterans Day, originally called Armistice Day, first celebrated the ending of WWI, which was once considered war to end all wars. It was decided to change the name to Veterans Day to honor all those who have served in the armed forces of the United States.

PARTICULARS:

The Riderwood ceremony on November 12 will start with the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the National Anthem.

This past weekend was a buzz with hundreds of D.C. area fashinoistas, stylists and bloggers at the Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Expo (FBL) at The Washington Convention Center on Saturday.  FBL Expo is DC’s premier style and fashion extravaganza.

Long-time “America’s Next Top Model” runway coach J. Alexander, "Miss J" and Bravo RHODC/DC 50's Paul Wharton hosted multiple fashion shows featuring winter and spring styles and trends.

FBL also featured discount shopping, free makeovers for the first 250 people in line courtesy of Jon David Salon, endless coupons and a model search competition!

On Sunday September 21, Certified child passenger safety technicians from Safe Kids Montgomery County will be inspecting the selection , installation and use of child safety and booster seats.

Parents will be given one-on-one instruction on how to properly use their child’s infant or booster seat.

Mitsubishi is providing Safe Kids Montgomery County a $2,000 grant to assist with the event. Safe Kids Montgomery County will also receive a $1,000 donation of infant and booster seats.

Stop by King Mitsubishi at 16160 Frederick Road in Gaithersburg, Md. from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to get your carseat checked.
