Video: Umbrella Burglar Sentenced To 75 Years

ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA) -- Paul Jerome Hold, 34, has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for at least nine burglaries, John J. McCarthy, State's Attorney for Montgomery County said in a press release.

The statement read that Holt "stole from a church and a funeral home in the same day." He is also responsible for breaking into businesses from Silver Spring to Gaithersburg and taking laptops, I-Pads and other electronics.

"From Urban Nation to Mars Symbioscience to a dentist office, Mr. Holt preyed upon unsuspecting people who thought their personal or business property to be safe," McCarthy said in the release.

In total, Holt took over $80,000 dollars worth of equipment. He was captured on surveillance video during one of the burglaries using an umbrella to conceal his face.

Hold has been charged with 10 counts of burglary and 6 counts of theft over $1,000. The judge originally sentenced him to 75 years with 75 years to run consecutively but it was suspended. The judge suspended another 58 years to run concurrently.
