Police release photo of bank robbery suspect | News
SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are hoping the public can help identify the suspect in a pair of Silver Spring bank robberies.
Officials believe a single suspect robbed the Wells Fargo bank, located at 8701 Georgia Avenue, twice over the last 5 weeks. On Tuesday, Jan. 21, police responded to the Wells Fargo bank for the report of a bank robbery. On Friday, Feb. 21, police responded to the bank again for another robbery.
Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect approached the teller, produced what is described as a large kitchen knife, and demanded cash. He left the bank after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, police say.
Investigators believe that the robberies were committed by the same suspect based on surveillance photographs and the similar actions of the suspect.
Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect from the photos or has information about these robberies to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
