Security to be reviewed at Army recruitment centers

SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- In the wake of the Chattanooga shootings, the Army's top officer says security at recruitment and reserve centers across the country will be scrutinized.

That review could include adding armed troops or guards to these military centers. Weapons are currently prohibited at recruitment offices, and armed guards are just one option being considered.

Army Chief of Staff Raymond Odierno says having troops at these recruitment centers carry guns may cause more problems than it may solve. Some people near the Army recruiting office in Silver Spring were also skeptical of that idea.

"I think it adds more danger to the situation, honestly," Amanda Everett of Washington, D.C. said. "You want them to protect themselves, but I don't know if that would that would necessarily help them."
